Rope Access Training opportunities

National Certificate in Industrial Rope Access

Training in Industrial Rope Access is available through the Applied Technologies Department at Tai Poutini Polytechnic.

Structured training using Unit Standards registered on the NZQA Framework leads to a National Certificate in Industrial Rope Access: Elementary Rope Skills and Working on Ropes. Entry to Working on Ropes follows Elementary Rope Skills. The qualification sits at levels 3 and 4 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. Students gain the knowledge and practical skills to seek and conduct work within a large variety of fields, including:

  • film industry

  • building maintenance and construction

  • underground/surface mines

  • off-shore and land-based oil rig work.

Study consists of part-time night classes, and supervised practical exercises in the workplace. The certificate is available nationally and can be begun at any time during the year.
